The button opens the web app. The first time, it asks whether you’d like to try the practice case. It teaches you the rules with a small mystery at a winery, with no murder involved.
What to expect
Each chapter asks a question, such as who was alone with someone at a certain time. You work out the answer from the statements and the floor plan rules. For the full walkthrough, see How a murder sudoku works.
Browser or app?
It’s the same game, and both included cases run in the browser too. The differences are in the details:

In the app, the practice case works offline right away, and so do fully downloaded stories. For a first look on a computer or tablet, the browser is all you need.
No sign-up, no ads
You don’t need an account and you won’t see any ads. To catch bugs, Sudocrime collects pseudonymous data about how the game is used. You can opt out anytime in Settings. The privacy policy has the details.

Frequently asked questions
Does playing in the browser cost anything?
The practice case and “Silence at Lindenrain” are included in full in your browser too. Further stories are a one-time purchase of €0.99. You can buy further stories on the App Store.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, in your browser’s storage on this device. If you clear the site data or play in a private window, your progress is gone afterwards. There’s no account, so progress doesn’t move to other devices.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Open the page and play. Sudocrime never asks for your name or email address.
