Price
What does Sudocrime cost?
The practice case “The Missing Key” and “Silence at Lindenrain” are included in full, in the app and in your browser. Each additional story costs €0.99 in Germany and Austria or CHF 1.00 in Switzerland, as a one-time App Store purchase. There is no subscription. You can buy further stories on the App Store.
Is there a subscription?
No. Each further story is a one-time purchase that you keep. New cases are on the way. You can buy further stories on the App Store.
Ads, account and data
Are there ads?
No. Sudocrime shows no ads and uses no advertising ID.
Do I need an account?
No. Sudocrime never asks for your name or email address. Your progress and settings stay on your device.
What data does Sudocrime collect?
To find bugs and improve the game, Sudocrime collects pseudonymous data about how the app is used, such as screens viewed and game events. You can opt out anytime with the “Opt out of usage analytics” switch under Settings, Privacy. The privacy policy has the details.
Offline play and devices
Can I play Sudocrime offline?
Yes. In the app, the practice case works offline right away, and fully downloaded stories stay playable offline. New downloads, purchases and restoring purchases need a connection.
Which devices does Sudocrime run on?
Sudocrime is available on iPhone and iPad from the App Store, on Android phones and tablets from Google Play, and right now in your browser at play.sudocrime.app with nothing to install.
Which countries is the app available in?
At launch, the apps are available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The browser version is at play.sudocrime.app.
Does my progress sync between devices?
There is no account, so nothing syncs between devices. Depending on your settings, iOS and Android include your progress in your device backup, for example when you set up a new phone.
Playing
Do I need to know sudoku?
No. The practice case teaches the rules with a small 4×4 sudoku, and the question mark on the puzzle screen explains them step by step at any time. Reading the rules doesn’t count as using a hint.
What if I get stuck?
Hints come in three steps: first they show you where to look, then they explain the next step of reasoning, and only the last step fills something in. The only cost is the “No help” badge.
Do I have to solve every sudoku right away?
No. Choose “Solve later” to continue the chapter. You can finish open sudoku puzzles from the evidence wall.
Can a statement be a lie?
No. Every card is true and refers to the moment the chapter asks about. That’s why every answer can be worked out with logic.
Is Sudocrime scary?
The cases are murderous but cozy. There’s no blood and no weapon on screen. The practice case has no murder at all.
Reading and accessibility
Can I make the text bigger?
Yes. Larger text makes everything 20% bigger, on top of your device’s text size. There are also light and dark themes.
Can the app read the text aloud?
Yes. Scenes and statements can be read aloud, paused and resumed. New recordings need an internet connection the first time and are then saved on your device. Autoplay starts the next recording if you like.
Which languages are available?
German and English. Sudocrime uses your device or browser language.
